The Topeka Capital-Journal’s Downtown Topeka: Building Blocks edition celebrates the excitement of downtown revitalization coming to fruition as decades of talk has turned to reality and concrete plans for continued future development. Our intended 8-page section ballooned to 44 full-color pages as businesses and downtown supporters embraced this opportunity to detail the steps it took to achieve what has been accomplished – and the work that still needs to be done. The content in the section is diverse and includes the following: – Interviews with downtown leaders and visionaries – How millennials affected views about the future of the city’s core – Architectural renderings of 600-900 blocks of S. Kansas Avenue, provided by Architect One – Business owners – stalwarts and fledglings – talk about enterprising efforts – 162 years of history at a glance – Find out who are 30 of the movers & shakers that helped make redevelopment happen – Why beautification matters – Downtown loft living is happening now – What’s next The edition will print as a special addition to the Sunday June 26 Topeka Capital-Journal. |
